This past week the Prettyography team was thrilled to be invited to Kansas City Fashion Week. The week was packed with fun and fashionable events full of the latest trends. From a rooftop runway to fashion for a cause – we had an absolute blast following along. With the Union Station shows from Friday and Saturday fresh in our minds – we put together a list of what are looking to be 10 of the hottest spring and summer fashion trends to watch from Kansas City Fashion Week.
10 Spring & Summer Fashion Trends to Watch
Black + White + Minimal
Black + white designs were all over the runway in various collections as were minimal and clean designs. The two trends come together flawlessly in this shift dress from 16-year-old (!!!) Molly Elizabeth. Absolutely amazed by her talent!
Judging from what we saw – the 70’s are alive and well in the fashion world. As vintage enthusiasts we were really excited about the modern hippie vibe we saw from Lucia’s Sarto in this gorgeous gown.
Well it’s official – hometown pride isn’t just something to display on your t-shirt. Beautiful photographs by Steve Gibson Photography of iconic Kansas City landmarks were coupled with fantastic designs by Heidi Herrman and Amina Marie Millinery to bring unique dresses and hats that pay homeage to our beautiful hometown.
We can’t even stress enough how nice it is to see women of a variety of sizes strut their stuff down the runway. We LOVED the models that were all smiles as they showed off the latest from JennaSea swimwear!
Pops of Bright Color
Black + white + pops of bright color appeared in a variety of collections. We love the mixture of these bright gorgeous colors in the Ola Style Collection.
A Bit Bohemian
Along with the 70’s vibe came a more relaxed modern bohemian approach. We love the flow of this gorgeous caftan from Alicia Janesko – Caftans & Resortwear.
We love natural elements such as feathers subtly infused into design. Especially this gorgeous gown from Alicia Janesko.
Another fun color combo we just can’t get enough of. We loved the infusion of metallic gowns and accents throughout the different collections.
Reptile Inspired Patterns
Subtle additions of reptile inspired patterns found their way into a variety of collections. We love how Lucia’s Sarto and Joshua Christensen incorporated this trend.
Last but not least – there was definitely an edgy feel incorporated throughout a variety of the designs. We love this edgy look from Lucia’s Sarto.
